Fourth of July

Copy/Image 1a

The Fourth of July, also known as our Independence Day, is now around the corner. It's the day that we commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Ever since 1776 many  celebrate this day in history with fireworks, parades, barbeques, carnivals, fairs, picnics, special concerts, baseball games, and even family reunions. So how do you celebrate?  "I loved going to the parades in town, I remember decorating my bike in red, white, and blue. I also remember riding  on some of the floats and of course the fireworks." ~Robin L.

"Well first we would thank god for this wonderful day of independence    and

usually go to a BBQ at one of our family members house and then enjoy the fireworks nearby." ~Glen R.

"Well we would have a barbeque and sit and watch our neighbors blow up fireworks." ~Joan F.

Here at Bickford we are going to celebrate the Fourth of July in a two day event. Starting Friday the 3rd with our S'mores and Fireworks Social at 7:30pm.  Saturday the 4th we're going to the Aurora Independence Day parade, we're leaving Bickford at 8:30  and will be sitting in front of the Paramount Theatre, the parade starts at 9:45. Hope you can join us for either or both events, Happy 4th of July everyone!

                               Meet your Neighboor

Hello neighbors, my name is Robin Lippoldt. I moved into Bickford a year and a half ago. I was born on November 25th, 1953 in St. Charles, Illinois, but I grew up in Downers Grove. My favorite childhood memory was playing kick the can at night, it was great. It also helped that I lived on a dead end street so we could play with no worries. Growing up I also loved swimming. I made it to Nationals when I attended Colorado State University. Swimming was a big part of my life and I eventually became a lifeguard and a swim coach for my local pool. I have three kids and many grandkids. As an adult I worked in the medical field and in hospitals. In my free time I like to quilt, sew and I was even in a bowling league. What I like most about Bickford is the people. I like helping everyone here and being useful and helpful to my fellow neighbors.

Hello friends my name is Cathy Benavides. I am the Assistant RN and I've been working at Bickford almost 5 years. I was born on August 9th in Tennessee. I loved growing up in Tennessee, everyone was so nice and made you feel like family. I enjoyed bike riding and running track. Growing up I especially loved our summer days at the beach.  I met  the love of my life in 1989.  A year later we got married and started our life together. We have two beautiful kids, a boy and a girl. We lived in Cincinnati until my husband got hired by the FBI and transferred to their Chicago Branch. We've been here ever since. When I'm not at work I love to watch

movies and go out for a run. My favorite vacation spot is Hawaii. I love being anywhere with a beach and Hawaii is perfect.  What I like most about Bickford is the people, in particular the residents. Everytime I see certain residents I have to stop and talk to them. They always make my day. In 5 years I see myself still working for Bickford hopefully in the Hawaii branch, that's if they ever open one in Hawaii!
