           Is exercise important in the health of Seniors?

Regular physical activity and exercise can help manage or even prevent a variety of health problems. Heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, certain cancers, depression, and stroke are  common medical conditions which routine physical activity can benifit from. Some of the numerous health benefits include:

  • Weight maintenance and burning excess calories
  • Improving the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol
  • Building up physical endurance
  • Optimizing health of the heart, lung, and vascular system
  • Better delivery of oxygen and nutrients to tissues
  • Maintaining bone and muscle health
  • Reducing fall risks and arthritis
  • Mood enhancement
  • Better sleep quality and duration

   Brondea Robinson

Brondea has been a CNA at Bickford for a year and a half now. She came from working midnights to days in Mary B's Neighborhood. Brondea loves spending time getting to know her family members in Mary B's, giving hugs, reading, doing nails, and making them smile and Laugh. She has a daughter, Brielle, who is just two years old. She is very close with her family and her mother is her best friend. In her off time, Brondea loves to sing and beautify others by doing hair. Thanks for all you do Brondea!

         Doris Lillrose

Doris was born in Lansing M.I. to Lyle and Marjorie. Lyle was a CPA and Marjorie worked as his accounting assistant and took care of their large family. Doris grew up with 6 siblings, John, Harold, Jim, Mary, Martha and Sue. They lived off Lake Lansing and often friends would often come and play off their dock. That’s where she met Jack, who she would later marry after he was out of the service, and she was done with nurses training. Jack and Doris had 4 children, Kirk, Dennis, Nancy and Mark. Doris sang with the Sweet Adelines and still enjoys quilting and crosstitch.
