On the night of the night of the 4th of July, we went to watch the fireworks show. Thanks to some local input we found a pretty amazing spot to watch all the fire work shows in town and have pretty convenient parking too.

About halfway through the parade there were about 100 American Flags that came through. It was so cool to see everyone stand up and place their hands on their hearts as the flags were marched by.

Happy Fourth of July from us at Bickford. We started out the Holiday festivities by going to the 4th of July parade in a nearby town of Towanda. IT was a little bit on the warm side but we had a blast!

Today we had special entertainment. Brad Darr came to perform for us some music from the early 50's and 60's. He sang some blue grass, gospel and early rock and roll. The whole group loved him! Thank you Brad for your time and entertainment!

Marj is one of our resident pool sharks. She always comes to this activity and tells everyone she doesn't remember how to play, then always, and I mean always, ends up sweeping the table!!! Here she is in action showing the rest of us how it is done. Way to go Marj! She's still got it!

Hey Everyone, I have some exciting news. We will be hosting our first annual Garage/Yard sale this June. All proceeds will go towards our Alzheimer's walk/run we participate in during the month of September. This is a fund raiser to help raise awareness, support and help find a cure for Alzheimer's disease and dementia. It is a great opportunity for residents to declutter their apartments, and storage units and raise money for a great cause. One of the more challenging brain games we play at Bickford is a game called Qwirkle. Imagine Scrabble and Dominoes combining to make an all new fun game. The game consists of pattern recognition, color identification, and a whole lot of strategy. It has 2 seemingly simple rules, you must complete the pattern with all the same shape but different color, or all the same color but different shape. Easy enough right? In the moment it's challenging and FUN! It is one of our more popular table top games we play here at Bickford.

We honored a local veteran who passed away recently in a full Military Service complete with horse drawn carriage and folding of the flag ceremony. There were several guest speakers and an amazing War Era Swing band following the ceremony. Everyone had an amazing time! Thank you Eastlawn Cemetary for hosting the event.

Yesterday in Mary B's we sometimes need to regroup. One of the best ways to regroup is to get our hands busy. We had a wonderful group of ladies roll balls of yarn. This promoted some business for their hands but also sparked memories. The stories that were shared by some of them who used to darn socks for their children and make Christmas scarfs as gifts. It was wonderful to see such a simple activity bring so much life to some of our folks.

Here is some of our group who went to a local church Saturday night to attend an organ/piano concert. The amazing concert was even more amazing when we learned the organist had only began playing 7 months ago and was only 16!!! He did an awesome job! What a great performance!

We played Popcorn with the parachute on Mary B's with our BFM's on Thursday. They all had so much fun. In this picture Pat was trying to get the blue ball away from her and across the parachute to Dixie. Who did her absolute best to keep it from falling off the parachute.

We had a ton of fun playing Balloon Kickball which turned into balloon toss. Marj had so much fun playing with 5 other residents and we made so much noise another 10 residents showed up just to see what we were doing. It was so much fun and great exercise!

Yesterday's Super Bowl LII was so much fun. Unfortunately we didn't get a lot of pictures because we were so busy serving yummy food, and getting people situated to watch the Eagles beat the Patriots. But everyone had fun and no one left hungry or thirsty!

One of our favorite Friday outings is the scenic drive through Moraine View State Park and driving around Dawson Lake. The lake was still frozen but the snow has melted off leaving a smooth as glass surface and this breathtaking photo opportunity.

I think it is safe to say our first annual bake sale was a huge success. In just a few hours we raised over $150.00 towards our Alzheimer's Run in September. We had such a HUGE turn out that we will continue our sale on Monday for those of you who missed out today, We will have the sale all morning long on Monday January 29th starting at 10:30am. Come on in and see us in the front lobby and pick up some amazing home made treats. 100% of the proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association for our annual Alzheimer's Run in September. Thank you everyone who came out today and who participated in the bake sale!
