Is it safe for me to exercise?
It is safe for most adults older than 65 years of age to exercise. Even patients who have chronic illnesses such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and arthritis can exercise safely. Many of these conditions are improved with exercise. If you are not sure if exercise is safe for you or if you are currently inactive, ask your doctor.

At Bickford of Springfield we won't need the luck o' the Irish when we are whipping up this low-cal key lime pie. Thanks to fat-free cream cheese and light yogurt, this no-bake dessert won't max out your daily calorie intake.
Key lime yogurt pie:
160 calories, 16 grams sugar, 4 grams fat, 26 grams carbohydrates, 5 grams protein
Ingredients:
2 tbsp. cold water
1 tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 1/2 tsp. unflavored gelatin
4 oz. fat-free cream cheese, softened
3 containers (6 oz. each) Yoplait Light Thick & Creamy key lime pie yogurt
1/2 c. frozen (thawed) reduced-fat whipped topping
2 tsp. grated lime peel
1 reduced-fat graham cracker crumb crust (6 oz.)
Directions:
In 1-quart saucepan, mix water and lime juice. Sprinkle gelatin on lime juice mixture; let stand 1 minute. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until gelatin is dissolved. Cool slightly, about 2 minutes. In medium bowl, beat cream cheese with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Add yogurt and lime juice mixture; beat on low speed until well blended. Fold in whipped topping and lime peel. Pour into crust. Refrigerate until set, about 2 hours.
Makes 8 servings.

There are GREAT things happening at Bickford of Springfield! We are so honored to be nominated as Branch Of The Year!
Come in today and see our Moments Of Happiness where your loved one canl join a Cuetivity Group that is led by a dedicated Bickford caregiver, a familiar face who is in tune with the Lifesong of your loved one. As each group is composed of no more than four or five residents, we are able to engage your loved one in a more meaningful way. We will help our residents with dementia through orchestrating a variety of Cuetivity Types each day:
* Creative (i.e. painting, playing the piano, building a bird house)
* Intellectural & Spiritual (i.e. word games, finish this quote, singing hymns)
* Life Skills (i.e. folding laundry, filing, setting the table)
* Physical (i.e. balloon volleyball, chair exercises, dancing)
* Social (i.e. themed parties, board games, cards)
