As a family business, we see each and every employee as a part of our family. We have a calling not a job. We are called Bickford Family Members. Our Residents are called Friends of the Family, our dearest friends for whom the entire Family provides care for. On Wed April 10th at 2pm one of our favorite Family member's Sam Garceau our maintenance supervisor will be calling the afternoon Bingo. Come watch Sam call Bingo you will be in for a treat! Our Resident's (Friends of the Family) love him and he makes it fun!

Did you know??? Bickford Senior Living is partnering with the Global Orphan project to build Assisted Livings in Haiti and India to care for their seniors in partnership with caring for the orphaned children. We just approved doing our first actual project in India for seniors. The Global Orphan has a farm next to an orphanage in India where our first community will be built. It will be developed through a local church partner in India and will be for 8-10 seniors. We are also working on getting a community started in Haiti. Joe Eby just returned last Monday from Haiti and is hopeful to have something up and running down there yet this year. We are just in the infant stages but who knows where it will take us!!

Congratulations to Bickford of Portage's Director, Janna Ritter for being nominated as a 2012 Director of the Year! In addition to only three other Directors, Janna was nominated for exemplifying Bickford’s Performing Culture, consistently displaying strong Vital Signs throughout the year, and has been employed with Bickford as a Director for twelve months. We have great entertainment at Bickford Cottage Portage... Tuesday Feb 19th at 6pm 4got2shave Barbershop Quartet will be playing.... Singing as an organized and registered quartet since October 2002, these guys have more than their facial hair in common. Barbershop harmony is a love shared by all, along with a desire to share those ringing chords with anyone. A primarily classic barbershop group, Four Got to Shave's repertoire also includes gospel, dixieland, doo-wop, and even a little pop! Providing family entertainment for more than seven years, Four Got to Shave provides a unique blend of music and comedy that appeals to audiences of all ages.

Does the cost surprise you? Good thing assisted living is a more affordable and homelike alternative to a nursing home.
