Is it Spring yet? Not only has Mother Nature overslept, I think she is in a coma! We are all anticipating the arrival of warmer weather despite the calendar saying spring has been here almost a month. The branches are anxiously anticipating the opportunity to get outside to start planting flowers. Even though our pots and baskets are yet to make an appearance, we do have our front porches cleaned up and we invite you to enjoy the porch in the hopes spring will actually spring here soon!

Yesterday was our 50's themed day. We had Rock n' Roll Bingo and a 50's themed party. We enjoyed bowling, ice cream floats, candy, good music and we all dressed in our 50's attire. Today is pajama day, so we plan to play board games in our pj's tonight and then snuggle up and watch a movie with popcorn later. Happy National Assisted Living Week everyone!

Scholarship Recipient One of the many great opportunities Bickford provides for their Bickford Family members is the opportunity to advance their education through financial assistance. Bickford offers 2 scholarships each year. The Bickford scholarship is for current Bickford Family Members who are interested in furthering their education. The Eby Scholarship is for the children of Bickford Family Members who are pursuing higher education. I was lucky enough to not only present both scholarships to 2 very deserving students in my division, but the Eby scholarship was extra special as it went to my daughter this year! Riley is going to be a sophomore at the University of Iowa, majoring in nursing. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Sorority, and has been accepted into the honors program. Congratulations Riley! Pictured is Riley (left) receiving her scholarship certificate from Divisional Director of Resident Services for Eastern Iowa/Western Illinois, Michelle Adam.

Hi everyone! My name is Taylor Carey. I just wanted to introduce myself quick. I am Bickford of Muscatine's new Life Enrichment Coordinator. Last week was my first week and I survived. ;) I have lived in Muscatine almost my entire life and have been very involved in the community since I was young. I graduated from Muscatine High School where I played softball and basketball. I was also very involved with student council, key club, national honor society, the silver cord volunteer program and many other organizations. I attended Muscatine Community College where I played softball and volunteered many hours of my time at a nursing home here in town. That is where I found my passion to work with the elderly. After I graduated MCC I then attended Iowa Wesleyan where I just graduated in May with my Bachelor's degree in Business. In my free time I love to stay active whether that is working out, being outside or hanging out with friends or family. I am super excited to get to know all of the residents and their families. I absolutely love making people happy and doing everything I can to make things a little more fun. My door is always open for new suggestions or just to chat. Come meet me! :)
