Fun was had by all during County Fair Day! They started with a county fair lunch of corn dogs, french fries and cherry pie. In the afternoon we had carnival games outside. We had a duck pond, ring toss, spin art, cake walk and face painting. We also had a petting zoo with horses and donkeys.

Residents sang along as Trudy lead us on imaginary journey to Italy through music. The residents enjoyed tasting different wines, cheeses and crackers in the afternoon.

A group of kids from a local church joined us for a morning of activities. They colored, did crafts, and had a great time tossing a balloon back and forth to each other using flyswatters.

The Rockin' with Tony Show comes to Hugo twice a month. Tony performs hits from the 50's and 60's. The residents clap, sing, shake noise makers and occasionally they get up and dance.

Two local high school girls came to help us do crafts. We made sparkly fish out of old music CD's and hung them in our windows so they sparkle in the sun.

Fun was had by all at our Father's Day picnic to honor all our Dad's. We enjoyed music by the band, Dakota Clover after dinner.

The residents had a grand old time on flag day. They tossed around flag themed beach balls, had a patriotic sing-a-long with Lisa and topped off the afternoon by making a fruit pizza resembling the American flag.

The staff also joined in on the fun by wearing jeans, bandannas and cowboy boots.

Meet our new nurse, Chelsie. Chelsie has been working in the healthcare field for six years. She was a CNA in North Branch and graduated from Nursing school in 2017. Chelsie was a nurse at the Bickford location in Maplewood before joining us here in Hugo. Chelsie lives in North Branch with her boyfriend and 9 year old daughter, Kira. They also have a pet shih-poo named Cocoa. Chelsie loves to fish, spend time with her family and spend time at Lake Kabetogama. Chelsie is excited for the opportunity to be part of the Bickford family in Hugo and to meet all of the families.

The residents enjoyed a beautiful afternoon out on the patio this week. Some of the ladies helped get the plants ready to plant into our flower boxes. Mindy, our cook, brought out cookies and drinks to enjoy on the patio.

Bickford of Hugo had an official ribbon cutting ceremony and second Open House to showcase it's newly renovated memory care facility. Members of the Hugo Chamber of Commerce and the city of Hugo were present to help with the Grand Opening.

A beautiful bench was donated to Bickford of Hugo in honor of Leona Stachowiak. Many of Leona's family were present on a lovely April day to bring the bench to Bickford. The red bench will be a wonderful addition to our outdoor space and a continuous reminder of Leona's smile.

The staff at Bickford of Hugo got into the spirit of "Cruise the Open Seas" day with their cruise attire. The dining room was decorated like a cruise ship. The residents played shuffleboard in the morning and they enjoyed special music by Ross McLeod in the afternoon.
