Cleo gave us a bit of entertainment by playing his favorite songs on his organ, he said "I've had this thing for 30 years but i haven't played it in a while" Cleo's son had recently brought his organ out to bickford from home for Cleo could play it in his spare time.

The first place winner goes to pumpkin #4 who was decorated by our kitchen manager Teresa Crouse and the 2nd place prize goes to pumpkin #1 who was decorated by our residents during our activity on Monday. Pumpkin #2 was decorated by our RN coordinator Brittney Rial and her girls, and pumpkin #3 was decorated by our housekeeper Lyndee Mitchell. Great job everyone, such creativity we have in our branch.

With the cold, rainy weather outside, today we decided to travel to Hawaii and have happy hour on the warm island. We drank pineapple juice and pineapple wine coolers, we tried some coconut cookies that were amazing, and we had little smokies, pineapples, and bbq sauce simmered together in the crockpot, yum yum delicious. We also talked about some fun facts of Hawaii that were very interesting. All of us learned so much that we never knew about Hawaii.

Today during crafty Tuesday we painted glass mason jars which we put flame less lights inside and will use them as night lights, everyone painted their own jars and got to design them the way they chose. Everyone did such a tremendous job.

Happy October everyone, here is our October newsletter along with our calendar of activities we have planned for the month. We will have our annual Family History Day planned for October 12th, I am in the process of emailing family members and asking them for a 5x7 graduation picture of their loved ones for a special activity we have planned for that day. Also we have our fall carnival planned for October 30th at 6pm, we will have trick or treating that night from 6-8 along with fun and games, flyers will be coming out soon for that event. Our entertainers are highlighted in red so if you are available for any of those performances, feel free to join us. Have a wonderful month

Happy August , where has this year gone? we are over half of it already. Please take a look at our August calendar as we have lots of fun activities that will be taking place. The Iowa State fair will be coming up August 10-20th, so during those days we will be having fun activities and trying some different fried foods, we also have Western Day on August 9th which will include a "Showdown at the Hoedown."
