Last night we had SFEA Vocal Jazz Ensemble J408 here to perform for us. They were a lively group and performed some amazing songs! They were well received by all the residents who sang along and were eager to have them return this fall!

Just a reminder. Tomorrow is Pearl's passions theme day! We are going to be celebrating like the rich and famous in Hollywood. There will be a chance to dress up in your finest attire, strut your stuff on the red carpet, get interviewed, and have your picture taken by the paparazzi. Thursday evening, we hosted an open house Wine Before You Dine Event. We wanted to open our doors to the public and showcase our Pearl's Place. We had Wine, and hor d'oeuvres and light piano music. It was a wonderful event and it went off splendidly.

Today is the Day!!! We are so excited for our County Fair Day. We have prizes and games and a Petting Zoo and a dunk tank where you can dunk your favorite directing family member! Money raised by the dunk tank will go towards our Alzheimer's Walk this September.

On the night of the night of the 4th of July, we went to watch the fireworks show. Thanks to some local input we found a pretty amazing spot to watch all the fire work shows in town and have pretty convenient parking too.

About halfway through the parade there were about 100 American Flags that came through. It was so cool to see everyone stand up and place their hands on their hearts as the flags were marched by.

Happy Fourth of July from us at Bickford. We started out the Holiday festivities by going to the 4th of July parade in a nearby town of Towanda. IT was a little bit on the warm side but we had a blast!

Today we had special entertainment. Brad Darr came to perform for us some music from the early 50's and 60's. He sang some blue grass, gospel and early rock and roll. The whole group loved him! Thank you Brad for your time and entertainment!

Hey Everyone, I have some exciting news. We will be hosting our first annual Garage/Yard sale this June. All proceeds will go towards our Alzheimer's walk/run we participate in during the month of September. This is a fund raiser to help raise awareness, support and help find a cure for Alzheimer's disease and dementia. It is a great opportunity for residents to declutter their apartments, and storage units and raise money for a great cause. One of the more challenging brain games we play at Bickford is a game called Qwirkle. Imagine Scrabble and Dominoes combining to make an all new fun game. The game consists of pattern recognition, color identification, and a whole lot of strategy. It has 2 seemingly simple rules, you must complete the pattern with all the same shape but different color, or all the same color but different shape. Easy enough right? In the moment it's challenging and FUN! It is one of our more popular table top games we play here at Bickford.

We honored a local veteran who passed away recently in a full Military Service complete with horse drawn carriage and folding of the flag ceremony. There were several guest speakers and an amazing War Era Swing band following the ceremony. Everyone had an amazing time! Thank you Eastlawn Cemetary for hosting the event.

Yesterday in Mary B's we sometimes need to regroup. One of the best ways to regroup is to get our hands busy. We had a wonderful group of ladies roll balls of yarn. This promoted some business for their hands but also sparked memories. The stories that were shared by some of them who used to darn socks for their children and make Christmas scarfs as gifts. It was wonderful to see such a simple activity bring so much life to some of our folks.
